Tutoring Opportunities
with The Literacy Corner

 

We are always seeking new teachers to add to our team of 30+ reading tutors. The individuals best equipped to tutor with us have a minimum of two years of experience in tutoring, enjoy connecting with students who experience learning challenges and are comfortable with working with software applications that support learning. Related degrees or certificates in education, linguistics, Orton Gillingham or TESL training are preferred. Please see our full list of qualifications below and contact us with your application.

 

Qualifications: 

• enjoy working with children 

• have substantial teaching or tutoring experience 

• be very comfortable with modern communications and technology

• have an eagerness to learn new approaches/methods 

• have post-secondary education or training 

• have excellent grammar and spelling 

• have use of a vehicle 

• be able to teach online and in person

Tutors with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply: ​

• Current or former BC-certified teachers

• University students and graduates specializing in Education, Linguistics and TESL 

• Education Assistants, Special Education Assistants and Behavior Interventionists

• Orton Gillingham training and certification
   

We have tutors throughout the BC Lower Mainland including: Vancouver, Tri-Cities, Ridge Meadows, Surrey, Langley, Delta, and Fraser Valley Area. While we specialize in reading, some of our tutors also tutor math and writing.

• can be available 3-6 days a week between 3pm and 7pm for 12 hours a week or more
